Entrepreneurs are a fast-growing workforce in our current society despite previous years of high unemployment numbers. People have been searching for ways to rely less on large companies to support themselves and find out how to start their own companies instead. But it takes a great deal of discipline to succeed as an entrepreneur despite the flexibility that can come with the job title.

So if you are looking for some inspiration or looking to take note of some tips that have worked extremely well for others, take a look at the work schedules of the five famous entrepreneurs below.

Benjamin Franklin

famous entrepreneurs quotes 2

"To succeed, jump as quickly at opportunities as you do to conclusions."

Why not start with one of the most famous entrepreneurs of our time — Ben Franklin. Ben Franklin wasn't just one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, the man who appears on the $50 bill, a writer, and an inventor; he was one of the most inspirational people—and smartest men —of our time.Franklin was known for his dedication to self-improvement and made a personal schedule that reflected that characteristic. Below is a photo of Franklin's personal schedule which he wrote down daily.

famous entrepreneurs quotes 3

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest."

Franklin had a strong dedication to his personal hygiene, studying and learning, working, and fueling his body properly. As you can see, this is quite a different schedule than the desk jobs most of us work now where we don't get activity quite as frequently throughout the day.Franklin even has spaces in his schedule for tidying up, listening to music, and examining (what we call meditating) the day that he had.

"You may delay, but time will not."

Ben Franklin's work schedule doesn't just speak volumes about his personality, it also shows us how important is to maintain a life during our workday and to consistently work to improve ourselves at the same time. The best part of his schedule is where he schedules in sleep and questions what good he gave to the world. Whether our hours look exactly like Franklin's or not, we can still use his work schedule to perhaps enhance our own a bit.

Winston Churchill

famous entrepreneurs quotes 4

"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm."

Churchill wants you to work in the bed. That's right, the perfect work schedule according to the famous Prime Minister and journalist was to start the day in bed to get a jumpstart on the day's work. Winston didn't only lead his country to victory in World War II, he also had a very detailed work schedule that involved starting his day at 7:30 a.m.

"If you're going through hell, keep going."

Churchill reportedly had breakfast in bed while he read his mail and dictated the day's duties to his personal secretaries. Although we may check our personal mail from our smartphones now and read work emails over coffee at the office, we can take some notes from Churchill's entire work schedule, not just the beginning of it.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal - it is the courage to continue that counts."

Later on in the day, around 3 hours later, Churchill arose out of bed, washed (showered), and then took a walk. Once again, we see that movement is important in a successful entrepreneur's work schedule. After that came lunch, then more work until an evening nap, around 5 p.m. Rest was important for Churchill, something many of us in the modern world don't do. If you can't imagine taking a nap in the late afternoon of the day, at least consider stopping at a certain time to give your mind a break.

Babauta advices to start your day by planning what you need to get done. He awakes at the early hours of 4:30 a.m. and then sets the three most important things he has to get done first, according to his personal schedule that he shared. After that we see he tends to his family, eats breakfast, and exercises.

"Clutter is a manifestation of a) holding onto the past and b) fear of what might happen in the future."

Then he manages to schedule in a second round of exercise and meditation later on in the day after he works. Having flexibility with your work schedule is a huge benefit of being an entrepreneur, but as Babauta exemplifies, priorities are still important.
